Last night the MCSD School Board approved the  hiring of Dr. Dionne Vance as  the new principal of Blenheim Middle School of Discovery.

Dr. Dionne Vance grew up in Mullins, SC. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Limestone College in Gaffney, SC. Dr. Vance completed her Master’s degree in Information Systems from Strayer University in Arlington, VA. She also holds a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from Capella University in Minneapolis, MN. Dr. Vance is certified in the following areas: Secondary Principal, Business, Marketing, and Computer Technology.

Dr. Vance began working for the Marion County School District in 2006. She taught business courses for four years at Mullins High School. In 2010, Dr. Vance was promoted to the position of District Technology Coach for Marion School District Two. In 2012, the districts in Marion County consolidated and Dr. Vance served as Instructional Technology Coach for the district office for one year. In 2013, she was asked to serve as Curriculum Facilitator at Johnakin Middle School. As Curriculum Facilitator, she provided professional development, coaching, and support for all teachers and staff. She served in this capacity for three years. Dr. Vance was promoted to Assistant Principal at Johnakin Middle School in 2016. After being the Assistant Principal at Johnakin Middle School for three years, she returned to Mullins High School in 2019 where she currently serves as Assistant Principal.

In addition to being a teacher and assistant principal, Dr. Vance also spent seven years as an Adjunct Professor at Florence Darlington Technical College teaching technology courses. She has provided various professional development courses, such as Project-Based Learning, Time to Teach Classroom Management, Fountas and Pinnell Benchmark Assessment, Data Analysis, Progress Monitoring, and Balanced Literacy. She loves providing professional development and coaching for teachers, school staffs, and parents. Dr. Vance is also very active and engaged within the community, serving as Sunday School Superintendent and a member of the Board of Trustees.

Dr. Vance is passionate about education and enjoys serving in public education. Her motto is “Every student is unique and possesses the ability to learn and grow. As educators, we must exploit their strengths and differentiate based upon their needs in an effort to help them reach their full potential.”
