The Exceptional Children Department provides leadership in the planning and improvement of services for students with disabilities in Marlboro County Schools. This includes supervising and coordinating the district’s Exceptional Children Program, related services, psychological services, health services, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended.

Exceptional Children Services are provided under the following areas of identification:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Deaf/Blindness
  • Deaf
  • Developmental Delay
  • Serious Emotional Disability
  • Hearing Impairment
  • Intellectual Disability
  • Multiple Disabilities
  • Other Health Impairment
  • Orthopedic Impairment
  • Specific Learning Disability
  • Speech/Language Impairment
  • Traumatic Brain Injury
  • Visual Impairment

Related Services may be necessary in order for a student to benefit from the exceptional children program. As appropriate, the following related services may be provided:

  • Counseling Services
  • Interpreter Services
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Orientation and Mobility Training
  • Physical Therapy
  • Nursing Services
  • Transportation
